I liked the game music a lot, but after hearing it so many times, I had to put something else on. I try to make it something that sort of fits the game. Some recommendations:
Metal:
Primordial
Bathory
Windir
Summoning
Moonsorrow
Dissection
The Lord Weird Slough Feg
My Dying Bride
Ambient/Electronic:
Sephiroth
Arcana
Dead Can Dance
Raison D'Etra
Elend
Sophia
Letum

I always listen in-game music. Using external music source rapes the atmosphere unless it is something similar. That is my opinion, no offense.

Excepting Slough Feg, all those bands are from Scandinavia or the UK, they don't get as much attention from the press here in North America. I never really got into Pantera or Sepultura very much, but if you like them, I'd recommend Acid Bath to you.

Hawthorne Heights - Saying Goodbye
Stutterfly - Gun In Hand ( Awesome song )
And a bunch more songs that are relative to the genre of rock.
I don't really care for the games music.

Cake, The Dandy Warhols, Sonic Youth, Man or Astro-man?, Nirvana, The Mermen, Beck, Ben Folds/Ben Folds Five, The New Pornographers, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Vandals, Blur, Harvey Danger, Catch 22, Reel Big Fish, Barenaked Ladies, Everclear, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Ted Leo + The Pharmacists, The Warlocks...
And varying other bands of that general nature. I've never actually listened to much of the soundtrack in GW. I should try that sometime.

Songs from BURNOUT 3 Takedown are what I listen to and a couple of songs from Green Day, Blink182 (yes I still listen to them), Nickleback and Rivermaya (Filipino band). So, what I do is I turn the games sound/music off then just listen away to my favorite songs....that's why I hate going on TS or Vent, it ruins my thing! But, it's a guild requirement, so....

I like the in-game music, but it's doomed to get old eventually (7 months of gameplay as of now).
On my part, the playlist is pretty varied:
Soundtrack from all 6 Star Wars movies
Soundtrack from LotR
Soundtrack from Gladiator
Soundtrack from Godfather
Soundtrack from Kill Bill (1 & 2)
Mozart
Beethoven
Johnny Cash
Various humor music by Weird Al Yankovic (among others I won't mention here )
That's pretty much it.

If I'm doing some solo farming or something that can get boring after a while I like to turn on some of my own music. Otherwise I am usually fine with what's in-game. Some of my favorite bands:
Children of Bodom
Arch Enemy
Dark Tranquility
Avenged Sevenfold
Iron Maiden
In Flames

Slowly drifting back to the stuff I listened to in my youth, currently Script for a Jesters Tear and Misplaced Childhood by Marillion.
Although I occasionally like to Blow my Speakers while Fighting the World against false metal...

Yeah, power metal and fantasy games go hand-in-hand, but I just can't get into it as much as doom/black/death etc. The closest I come is the afforementioned Lord Weird Slough Feg, who I'm surprised aren't bigger than they are. Really catchy stuff.
